Vexta · Mobile App Security

Find real vulnerabilities in your Android app, not just a checklist.

Upload an APK and Vexta analyzes the manifest, the code, the bundled libraries, and the native binaries - then traces how untrusted data actually flows through the app. You get a short, prioritized list of findings mapped to OWASP MASVS and CWE, tiered by whether we confirmed the issue or merely flagged it.

The problem

A pass/fail checklist tells you what to look at, not what's exploitable.

Most mobile scanners walk a list of config flags and hand back a grade. That tells you the app is 'debuggable' - it doesn't tell you that an attacker-controlled Intent reaches a WebView and runs. Vexta is built to surface the flows that actually matter, and to say plainly which findings it confirmed versus which are worth a human look.

  • Findings mapped to OWASP MASVS and tagged with CWE, so they slot into an existing report
  • Confirmed vs. potential tiers instead of an undifferentiated wall of warnings
  • The app's own backend endpoints extracted and handed to Vexta's web/API engine
  • Runs on the binary you ship - no source code required

How it works

Upload the binary. Get a prioritized, standards-mapped list.

Mobile app analysis is included in Vexta Pro and Enterprise, and in the free Pro trial.

01

Upload

Submit an APK (IPA support is partial today). Vexta opens even repacked or obfuscated archives and unpacks the manifest, bytecode, resources, bundled libraries, and native .so files.

02

Analyze

Static analysis of manifest and code, a dependency SBOM matched against known CVEs, native-library hardening checks, and data-flow taint analysis run across the app.

03

Triage

Findings come back mapped to OWASP MASVS and tagged with CWE, tiered confirmed vs. potential, so the handful that matter rise to the top instead of drowning in low-signal warnings.

04

Fix & retest

Each finding ships with the evidence and location behind it. Fix, rebuild, and re-upload to confirm the issue is closed - and scan the extracted backend endpoints while you are at it.

What it checks

Static, dependency, native, and data-flow analysis in one pass.

Accurate coverage of the issues that actually put a mobile app at risk - with low false positives because findings are tiered confirmed versus potential.

Manifest & config flaws

Debuggable builds, exported components without permission guards, cleartext (HTTP) traffic, and allow-backup exposure - the configuration mistakes that widen the attack surface.

Insecure code patterns

Weak crypto and ECB mode, trust-all TLS, risky WebView JavaScript bridges, raw SQL, world-readable storage, and dynamic code loading - detected in the compiled Dalvik bytecode.

Dependency SBOM + CVE matching

Vexta builds a software bill of materials for the bundled libraries and matches them against the OSV database, so a known-vulnerable dependency does not ship silently.

Native library (.so) hardening

Checks native binaries for RELRO, stack canaries, and dangerous imports - the hardening flags that decide whether a memory bug in native code is exploitable.

Data-flow (taint) analysis

Traces untrusted input through the app to catch real flows - like Intent data reaching WebView.loadUrl (mobile XSS) or a file path (path traversal) - not just the presence of a risky API.

Backend API bridge

Vexta extracts the API endpoints the app talks to and scans them with its web/API engine, so the mobile review and the backend review come from the same tool.

Confirmed vs. potential tiers

Every finding is tiered by confidence, so you triage the confirmed issues first and treat the potential ones as leads - not a flat list of equally weighted warnings.

Enterprise

Dynamic analysis & fuzzing

Runtime instrumentation exercises exported components and deep links to confirm issues that only surface when the app is actually running.

Why it is different

Vexta vs. manual review and checklist tools

Checklist scanners grade configuration. Manual review is thorough but slow and inconsistent. Vexta aims for the depth of a review at the speed of a scan.

Mobile app security - frequently asked questions

What do I upload - source code or the binary?
The binary. Upload an Android APK and Vexta unpacks and analyzes it directly - no source code required. It handles repacked and obfuscated archives too. IPA (iOS) support is partial today.
Which Vexta plan includes mobile app analysis?
Static mobile analysis - manifest, code, bundled libraries, native .so files and data flow - is included in Pro and Enterprise. Runtime (dynamic) analysis and fuzzing are Enterprise only. The free trial is Pro, so you can upload an APK during the trial.
Which standards are findings mapped to?
Findings are mapped to OWASP MASVS (the Mobile Application Security Verification Standard) and tagged with a CWE identifier, so they drop straight into an existing security report or ticket without re-classification.
How is this different from a checklist scanner?
A checklist scanner reports the presence of a risky setting or API. Vexta adds data-flow (taint) analysis that traces untrusted input to a dangerous sink - for example Intent data reaching WebView.loadUrl (mobile XSS) or a file path (traversal) - so you see the exploitable flow, not just the ingredient.
Does it check the libraries bundled in the app?
Yes. Vexta builds a software bill of materials (SBOM) for the bundled libraries and matches it against the OSV known-vulnerability database, and it checks native .so binaries for hardening flags like RELRO, stack canaries, and dangerous imports.
Will it flood me with false positives?
Findings are tiered confirmed versus potential, so you work the confirmed issues first and treat the potential ones as leads. The goal is a short, actionable list rather than an undifferentiated wall of warnings.
Can it test the app and its backend together?
Yes. Vexta extracts the API endpoints the app communicates with and scans them with its web/API engine, so the client and server review come from one tool. Dynamic analysis and fuzzing - runtime instrumentation of exported components and deep links - is available on Enterprise.
